DISTRICT
State Representative Eileen Kowall was elected to a first term in the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2008, representing residents of Highland Township, White Lake Township, Springfield Township, Independence Township and the city of the village of Clarkston.
EDUCATION
Kowall attended Wayne State University from 1970 to 1972; the University of Detroit from 1972 to 1974, where she obtained a degree in Dental Hygiene. She is also a graduate of the Michigan Exellence in Public Service series.
PROFESSIONAL
She practiced in the field of Dental Hygiene from 1974 to 1989. She is part-owner of Accurate Woodworking, Inc. in Waterford and was actively involved as a designer/sales representative from 1989 until 2004.
PAST PUBLIC OFFICES AND AFFILIATIONS
Kowall served on the Oakland County Board of Commissioners for six years and was Chair of the Republican Caucus for four of those years. She also served as vice-Chair of the Finance Committee and was a member of the criminal justice coordinating council. She also served as Chair of the 11th Congressional Republican Committee and has also served on the State Republican Committee. Additionally, she served on the Oakland Livingston Human Services Agency (OLSHA) Member-Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
Kowall has also been involved with the following organizations: Citizens Alliance for Life & Liberty, Pontiac/Waterford Lodge #810 B.P.O. Elks, Huron Valley Optimists Club, Oakland County Republican Executive Committee, White Lake/Highland Business Association, Clarkston Chamber of Commerce, Waterford Chamber of Commerce, Waterford and White Lake Historical Societies, National Rifle Association and Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners.
PERSONAL
Eileen Kowall has been married to Michael Kowall for 35 years. They have two children: Marissa and her husband Tom, and Stephanie. They have one granddaughter Madeline.
